The HAND in HAND: Clinical Research CNS3 application is a clinical research application designed for in-clinic neuropsychological testing of individuals diagnosed with HIV Associated Neurocognitive Disorders (HAND). HAND can occur when HIV enters the nervous system and adversely affects the health of the nerve cells. The testing protocol runs through a validated test battery of the following tests: VSLT, Spatial Span, Digit Symbol Substitution, Trails, Stroop Word, Stroop Color, and Stroop Interference. Together, with researchers across the country, we hope to develop a sensitive, non-invasive screening instrument for HAND. For more information or to setup a study at your institution please contact Digital Artefacts LLC, the creator of the BrainBaseline testing platform that is used to power the study.
If youre not a researcher, but are interested in participating in the research then we recommend the "HAND in HAND: HIV Associated Neurocognitive Disorders" application that uses Apples ResearchKit. This allows individuals with iPhones to participate in a research study being conducted by the University of Nebraska Medical Center using their phone.
